Commercial Rooftop Solar Decommissioning

Branchburg, New Jersey

Project Overview

Kopp Electric was engaged to decommission and remove an existing rooftop solar system at Branchburg Central Middle School in Branchburg, New Jersey. The project scope included site mobilization, controlled electrical shutdown and disconnection, removal of solar modules and associated equipment included in the approved scope, material staging, and coordination for recycling.

Because the work took place at a public-school facility, the project required careful planning for site access, safety, material handling, housekeeping, and coordination with the project team. Kopp Electric completed the field work in June 2026 and supported the required project closeout and recycling documentation.

Project Objectives

The primary objective was to safely retire and remove the existing rooftop solar system while protecting the school property and maintaining an organized work area. The project was planned around electrical safety, controlled equipment removal, material handling, recycling coordination, and complete project closeout.

Project Impact

Kopp Electric completed the rooftop solar decommissioning scope at Branchburg Central Middle School in June 2026. The work included controlled electrical isolation, removal of the solar equipment included in the approved scope, organized material staging, and coordination for transportation and recycling.

The project demonstrates Kopp Electric’s ability to manage public-sector solar decommissioning work from initial shutdown through equipment removal and closeout. The school and project team received a completed work area along with photographs, material records, and the required recycling and project documentation.
